Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you provide?
We provide non-medical companion care, homemaker services, transportation, respite for family caregivers, wellness visits, and consultation-based extended support. Services are personalized around the client’s routines, preferences, and the duties agreed in the care plan.
Who can receive services?
We support seniors, adults with disabilities, people recovering at home, individuals who live alone, and families who need a dependable helping hand. We review each request to confirm that the person’s needs fit our non-medical service scope.
Where do you provide care?
One Companion & Homemakers is based in Waterbury and serves communities throughout Central Connecticut. The website currently identifies Waterbury, Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, Newington, West Hartford, Berlin, Cromwell, New Britain, Farmington, and Southington. Availability depends on staffing, scheduling, travel distance, and the requested service.
Is this medical home care?
No. Our services are non-medical and do not replace nursing, home health, physical therapy, medical transportation, emergency response, or other licensed clinical care. We will explain our service boundaries during the consultation.
How do we get started?
Submit a care request or call (203) 996-5533. We will ask about the person needing support, location, schedule, routines, requested tasks, mobility considerations, communication preferences, and emergency contacts. A request is not a confirmed booking until availability and service fit have been reviewed.
Can services be occasional or recurring?
Yes. Depending on availability, support may be scheduled for occasional visits, recurring weekly care, family caregiver relief, transportation, or longer periods of assistance.
Can the care plan change?
Yes. Needs and routines can change over time. Contact the office to discuss schedule or service adjustments. Changes are subject to assessment, staffing, and the agreed service scope.
Do you provide transportation?
Transportation may be available for appointments, groceries, pharmacies, errands, family visits, and community activities. It must be scheduled in advance and is not emergency or medical transportation.
Can a family member receive updates?
Updates may be provided to an authorized contact according to the client’s preferences, consent, and care plan. We respect the client’s privacy and do not share information with people who are not authorized.
What should we prepare before the first visit?
Please provide current contact information, emergency contacts, access instructions, household preferences, relevant routines, scheduled appointments, mobility considerations, known safety concerns, and clear directions about requested non-medical tasks.
What happens in an emergency?
Call 911 for an immediate medical or safety emergency. Our services do not replace emergency monitoring or response. Emergency contacts and escalation instructions should be documented before service begins.
How much does care cost?
Pricing depends on the requested service, visit length, schedule, location, and care arrangement. Contact the office for a personalized discussion. Do not send payment-card or bank-account information through a general website form.
How quickly can services begin?
Start dates depend on the consultation, service fit, staffing, schedule, location, and completion of required arrangements. Contact us as early as possible, especially for recurring, overnight, or extended support.
